Fees
$15 per document (not per page). Adoption documents are $10 each using Form 2103. Standard requests use Form 2102 (Texas SOS: Authentications).
Rules worth knowing
- Certified records (like birth certificates) must have been issued within the past 5 years.
- Notarized documents must be notarized by a Texas notary.
In person (Austin)
The authentication office is at 400 W. 15th Street, Austin, TX 78701. - Monday and Friday: walk-in. - Tuesday to Thursday: by appointment. - Maximum 10 documents per visit. A drop box is available for larger batches.
By mail
Authentications Unit, P.O. Box 13550, Austin, TX 78711-3550. Allow up to 2 weeks for processing, plus mail time.
