Fee and payment

$15 per document. Checks are payable to "Commonwealth of Pennsylvania." Walk-in service in Harrisburg accepts credit cards only (PA DOS: Document Certifications & Apostilles).

How to submit

By mail or walk-in in Harrisburg. Follow the request form instructions on the PA page for what to include, such as the destination country and return envelope.

Notarizing first

Pennsylvania notarized documents must be notarized by a PA notary before the state can apostille them. Selling a car in PA? That's a different notary task; see PA car title.

Need a notary first?

If your document first needs notarizing, online options: Notarize · OneNotary · NotaryLive. Check that the state accepts the notarization method you choose before you file.

Confirm with the receiving country whether it needs an apostille or an authentication certificate. Non-Hague countries need authentication instead. See what is an apostille.
